My name is Achmed Nait-Rrami and I have been working at Dirk van den Broek supermarkets for 31 years. Dirk is a branch organization and I have been a supermarket manager for 20 years and am currently managing at a Dirk branch in Amsterdam.
The head office selected LTT as a supplier with the application called Stock Control System (SCS). SCS has been tested in several stores and I was one of the pilots. The cooperation with LTT is good, LTT switches quickly, uses short lines of communication, is innovative and solution oriented.
So I have been involved with SCS from day one. SCS is a user-friendly system, its functionality on the screen and in the app corresponds to the practice in the store. Change of staff has shown that new employees quickly pick up the way SCS works. This is just as well, because I think that manual ordering is no longer possible due to the large assortment with many changes and the many orders made daily.
Before we started using SCS, we were also ordering with a custom-made application. This created orders but did not keep track of stock on hand. The orders were inaccurate, too much or too little was ordered, especially with the holidays.
Now with SCS, order recommendations are made for the entire assortment, including promotions. They are recommendations, unlike our previous system we can adjust the order recommendation if necessary. We can also influence the order recommendation in advance, for example how the stores look through the eyes of the customer. We have confidence in SCS's ordering advice our out of stock and shrinkage has decreased, the stock on hand with SCS has also decreased, so we have less leftovers overstocks and our productivity has increased. The number of items that need to be marked down due to THT has also dropped significantly. This saves margin and more important the consumer gets a product with a better expiration date. More sales and less wastage thanks to SCS
Important for a good order recommendation is that the stock on hand in SCS is correct. SCS keeps track of the stock of every item in real time. We can manage inventory better with the SCS app, which reduces inventory discrepancies and thus improves the ordering advice. SCS guides store personnel, providing counting orders for items, for example. Because the stock is lower and up to date, we have gained insight into theft and the quality of deliveries.
Accounting-wise, the inventory value of my store was determined by balancing three times a year with in-house staff. Now, with the help of SCS, the stock value can be determined more often and much more accurately, because we now rely on SCS to keep the stock of every item up to date. Determining stock value, without balancing indicates how reliable the stock on hand in SCS is.”
